This week we have focused on:

  • Telling the time
  • Converting analogue time to digital time 

Summer 2 week 1

This  week we have focused on:

  • Completing problems with decimals
  • Dividing and multiplying by 10 and 100
  • Converting measurements (mm to cm and cm to m).

Summer 1 week 6

This week we have been focusing on:

  • The effects of dividing a number that does not end in 0 by 10.
  • STEM week

Summer 1 Week 5

This week we have been: 

  • Adding decimals
  • Subtracting decimals
  • Rounding whole numbers
  • Rounding decimal numbers

Summer 1 Week 4

This week we have been: 

  • Understanding and finding the equivalent of a quarter, half and 3 quarters in decimals
  • Explaining our understanding of decimals and their value
  • Adding on decimals to make a whole
  • Completing a range of stops problems

Summer 1 Week 3

This week we have been: 

  • Completing a range of Stops Problems
  • Understanding, comparing and ordering decimals with one decimal place
  • Understanding, comparing and ordering decimals with two decimal places

Summer 1 Week 2

This week we have been:

  • Recognising tenths and hundredths as fractions
  • Recognising tenths and hundreds as a decimal
  • Understanding the place value of a decimal number

Summer 1 week 1

This week we have been:

  • Finding the fraction of amounts. Both unit (E.g 1 fifth) and non unit (e.g. 3 fifths).
  • Completing a range of Stops Problems

Spring 2 week 5

This week we have been focused on:

  • Counting fractions on a number line
  • Subtracting fractions from a whole amount
  • Finding equivalent fractions

Spring 2 week 4

This week we have:

  • solved problems that have us add and subtract a range of fractions
  • compared and  converted improper and mixed fractions
  • Continued a range of sequences that involve fractions

Spring 2 week 3

This week we have:

  • Carried on comparing a range of fractions including fractions greater than a whole.
  • Started to add and subtract fractions with the same denominator.
  • Used bar modelling to add and subtract fractions with the same denominator that are greater than one whole.
  • STOPS problems: Act it out type problems

Spring 2 Week 2

This week we have:

  • Recognised a fraction and started looking into what makes a fraction a fraction.
  • Recognised that fractions can come in different sizes.
  • Compared fractions with the same denominators.

Spring 2 week 1

This week we have focused on:

Correspondence problems: understanding the basics of algebra and to show equations using shapes.

E.g: Show me 22 vertices by using 2 shapes, using each shape as much as you want.

Stops problems: working backwards.

Understanding fractions and finding fractions of a shape.

Adding fractions.

Spring 1 Week 6

This week we have focused on:

Area of shapes: finding and understanding the area by counting the squares.

Finding the are by multiplying two sides of a four sided shape.

Measurement: Measurement length (cross curricular with our forces topic)

Measuring the length and area as well as solving problems related to length.

Factors of numbers

Multiplying 3 single digit numbers

Stops Problems

Spring 1 week 4

This week we focused on:

Mastery problems revolved around division

Division using place value and representation

Stops Problem solving focused on simplifying

Spring 1 week 3

This week we have focused on:

Dividing up to 3 digit numbers using the bus stop method.

Dividing 3 digit numbers with remainders.

Spring 1 Week 2

This week we have focused on:

Multiplying a 2 and 3 digit number by a 1 digit number using short multiplication methods

Division calculations focused on the fundamentals of division as well as looking into the bus stop method.

Spring 1 Week 1

This week we have focused on Multiplication, specifically multiplying by multiples of 10 and 100 and have focused on multiplying 2 and 3 digit numbers by a 1 digit number.

Autumn 2 week 7

This week we focused on:

Problem solving: focused on addition, subtraction and multiplication.

Autumn 2 week 6

This week we focused on:

Multiplying by 100 and 1000.

Multiplying by multiples of 10 and 100.

STOPS problem solving: List or table

Autumn 2 week 5

This week we focused on:

Multiplication using a range of mental and physical methods.

Understanding multiplication and being able to explain it to others.

Multiplying and dividing by 10.

STOPS problem solving: Trial by improvement

 

Autumn 2 week 4

This week we have focused on:

  • Finding the perimeter of a polygon
  • Measuring sides to find the perimeter
  • Finding the perimeter of irregular shapes
  • Finding the perimeter of shapes outside

Autumn 2 week 3

This week we have focused on:

  • Using a range or mental arithmetic methods for different calculations
  • Using the inverse to check answers as well as help with missing number problems
  • Focused on the STOPS problem methods we have looked at over the last 3 weeks.

Autumn 2 week 2

This week we have focused on:

  • Mental arithmetic: speed of number bonds
  • Mental arithmetic: Rounding to help addition
  • Mental arithmetic: Partitioning to help addition
  • Mental Arithmetic: Counting on
  • STOPS problem solving: Trial and Error

Autumn 2 week 1

  • Explaining to year 3 how to complete 3 digit addition problems

  • Subtract numbers with up to 4 digits using the formal written method of columnar subtraction.
  • Solved missing number problems that relate to subtraction.
  • Solved number and practical problems related to subtraction. 

Autumn 1 Week 4:

This week we have:

  • Counted backwards through zero to include negative numbers
  • Solved number and practical problems related to place value
  • Started to subtract four digit numbers from four digit numbers.

Autumn 1 week 3

This week we have:

  • Rounded to the nearest 10
  • Rounded to the nearest 100
  • Rounded to the nearest 1000
  • Solved number and practical problems related to this

Autumn 1 week 2

This week we have focused on:

  • Solving problems that include identifying and representing numbers using different representations.
  • Ordering and comparing numbers beyond one thousand.
  • Find one thousand more or less that a number.

Autumn 1 Week 1

This week we have focused on

  • Place value: recognising the value of a each digit in a four digit number
  • To recognise and represent numbers using different representations E.g: using counters, base 10 and place value grids.
