The Big Questions - BBC1's topical ethical debate show, hosted by Nicky Campbell is broadcasting from Appleton Academy, Bradford on Sunday 14 January. They are looking for audience members who may even get the chance to contribute. Find out more and how to get tickets.

 

Faith in the Questions: Counting the Clouds - a new one act play by Nigel Forde, presented by Riding Lights, followed by conversation with leading scientists. 7.30pm, Thursday 18 January at Holy Trinity, Huddersfield. More information and free booking.

 

Bishop Toby Howarth will be one of the speakers at 'Stretch Wide Your Curtain', a lay training event on Saturday 20 January.  Whether running classes, food banks, toddler groups, Places of Welcome or community projects, this event in Bradford is for you. More here

 

Wakefield Cathedral is hosting the third and final training day in a series across the diocese. Filled with creative ideas, inspirational training, and encouragement, and led by Lucy Moore, the day from 10am-3pm on Saturday 3 February is free of charge. To book visit the webpage here

 

The Digital Media Day for churches, on Thursday 15 February at Church House,  Leeds will be a practical day led by the CofE's Digital Content team. If you are responsible for digital media in your church the day is for you, covering social media trends and how to make the most of the updated A Church Near You site. Lent Prayer times led by our bishops

Every Saturday of Lent our bishops are inviting you to join them for prayer. The prayer days begin on  Saturday 17 February from 10am to 3pm at Ripon Cathedral with the new Area Bishop of Ripon, Helen-Ann Hartley - each Episcopal Area will be covered during Lent. More here

 

Bookings are now being taken for the 2018 Step Forward event which will take place onSaturday 17  March at Bishopthorpe in York. Hosted by Archbishop Sentamu, this exciting free event is for anyone aged 18 - 30 who is considering ordained ministry in the Anglican Church. More details 

 

PCC Tonight

Practical ideas for a dynamic, fun, faith-filled PCC. Led by CPAS this evening is designed to help PCCs reflect on why they exist and how they operate. Tuesday 20 March st St John's, Great Horton, Bradford. More.

 

Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu says he is changing his holiday plans in order to attend Spring Harvest in Harrogate, April 3-7. He's recorded a short video to commend the event to Christians in the region. Watch the video here, and  find out more about Spring Harvest in Harrogate here

 

Leeds clergy couple invite summer bookings

This week is traditionally the heaviest for summer holiday bookings, and Leeds clergy couple, Sam and Claire Corley are hoping that many young people from across the diocese will book for the Ripon Ventures. They are preparing to provide 240 young people and leaders with a summer holiday to remember - find out more here

 

Ringing for Peace: Armistice 100 is an appeal to church bell ringers around Britain to join in a major event later this year to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War One. The organisers want to see more than 1000 churches and cathedrals ringing their bells simultaneously at 7.05pm on

At the start of a new year, check out some of the centres & facilities within our diocese. Parcevall Hall near Skipton - the retreat house & conference centre for the diocese. Marrick Priory in Swaledale - provides a wide range of adventurous activites and can be booked on a day or residential basis. The Mirfield Centre between Huddersfield & Dewsbury - offers a broad range of opportunities & events. Hollin House Leeds - can be booked for small groups on some Saturdays (see below). Scargill House, near Kettlewell - home to a Christian community offering holidays, conferences & retreats. Bishop Nick and Linda are offering church groups the use of Hollin House and garden on some Saturdays in 2018. Groups up to 20 have found the space useful in the past for PCC Away Days, Quiet Days, Retreats & meetings. More details and dates available.
