D: Side Visit
Dave from D: Side gave the children in Year 3 a fantastic interactive workshop on the effects of smoking today. The children had great fun, but learned a lot too! Thank you to Dave for his time and enthusiasm!
The children will have their outdoor learning slot last session on a Tuesday. Please can you remind your child to bring in wellies/outdoor shoes and warm clothing to wear when we go outside.
The children have started learning about their new topic of 'Light'. They will be learning lots of fascinating facts and taking part in lots of exciting experiments, focusing on the questions;
*Can I recognise that I need light to see things, and that dark is the absence of light?
*Can I investigate which surfaces reflect light?
*Can I use a mirror to reflect light and explain how mirrors work?
*Can I explain how light from the sun can be dangerous for our eyes and how sunglasses can protect?
*Can I investigate which materials block light to form shadows?
*Can I find patterns when investigating how shadows change size?
Don't forget that on Tuesday 9th October 2018 it will be our Stone Age day in Year 3. It would be great if the children could come to school dressed as a Stone Age person. I have attached images below of some ideas for outfits to wear.
The children will be taking part in lots of interactive activities throughout the day including; clay model making, cooking, artwork and acting.
Please remember that we will begin our recorder lessons tomorrow (Monday 17th September). Please make sure your child has a recorder in school which is clearly labelled with their name on.
We will be starting recorder sessions on Monday 17th September. A letter has recently been sent home with more information. If you have any problems purchasing a recorder, then please let Mrs Doughty or Mrs Young know.
School swimming lessons will commence on Friday 14th September.
Children will need:
Children do NOT require shower gel/shampoo as there is no time after the swimming session. Children also do NOT require any extra snacks other than their usual break (fruit only).
A note will be sent home in the first week for you to advise us of your child's current swimming ability, in order for us to put them into groups for their swimming sessions.
